Art Exhibit
Upcycled
May 8 – June 28, 2019
Charles Eneld
A Haitian artist who specializes in up-cycled, oil-drum wall-art. He grew up in Croix-des-Bouquets, a village on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince where his workshop is part of the Noailles Artisans Cooperative. Every stage of Charles’ process is hand-done, and each piece is unique.
The artist incorporates not only Haitian mythological, Christian, and Vodou motifs into his work, but whimsical elements and fantastic beasts. Mermaids and angels are recurrent subjects. Charles’ work was featured in the Thayer Art Gallery Art of Ayiti exhibit (Nov-Dec, 2016) that raised more than $10,000 to support teacher professional development in Haiti.
