Kambrya Bailey

Kay Parks is a ceramic artist and painter, combining the two mediums in clay. Her work depicts the natural world and her love of the environment. A feeling of playfulness, whimsy, and beauty are the essence of their design.

The red clay of her childhood home in rural Piedmont NC was the original inspiration to work in clay. As a child, she created small bowls and carved sculptures using rocks as tools and then “baked” them in the hot summer sun. Walking in the woods of her childhood home began her love of the outdoors, plants, and the environment and remains her passion today.

After receiving her BFA in art and her MS in art education, she taught art for over 20 years. Having been a painter for many years, she returned to clay in her desire for a more hands-on experience and is now working full time in her studio in Hillsborough, NC.
